HEAD OF APHRODITE
Late Hellenistic, Roman, 1st century B.C.
Parisian marble carved full round. Head of the goddess turned slightly downwards to the left side. Curly hair with center parting and headband, tied into a chignon. Small, fine, mouth with full lips. Slender neck merging into the shoulder. On a later plinth.
H without plinth 29 cm.
Nose missing. Chips to the lip and chin. Chisel marks on the back of the head.
