BRACKET / TABLE CLOCK WITH DATE AND ALARM
George II, London, ca. 1760/70. The dial signed Michael Roth London (Michael Roth, mentioned in London before 1773).
Mahogany and oak. Rectangular case, in part glazed on three sides. Top with carrying handle, the corners set with bronze ornaments. Gilt brass dial engraved with tendrils, and with applied scrolls and vines. Silvered engraved chapter ring. Above, an additional chapter ring for setting the striking mechanism. Central alarm disc and small 'show' pendulum. Movement with verge escapement and rear pendulum. 1/2-hour strike on bell, can be switched off. Repetition on demand. Small alarm mechanism on bell. The rear movement plate finely engraved with bird and scrolls.
