A PAIR OF VASES WITH BRONZE MOUNTS

The porcelain from China, Kangxi, 17th/18th century. The bronzes Régence/Louis XV, Paris, ca. 1730/40.
Egg-shaped vase decorated with blue/white flowers depicting the Four Seasons, in reserves designed as cartouches. Mounted on a rocaille base.
Ø 23 cm, H 30 cm.


Gilding rubbed.

Provenance (according to historical sources):
- probably Collection Bethsabée de Rothschild.
- probably Auction Sotheby's, 21 June 1974.
- by inheritance in the present private collection, Suisse romande.

Vases of identical shape and with the same decoration, and with identical French bronze mounts are depicted in: Lusingh Scheurleer, Chinesisches und japanisches Porzellan in europäischen Fassungen, Würzburg, 1980, p. 305, Ill. 269. It can be assumed that the pair of vases depicted are the ones on offer.
