REMBRANDT HARMENSZ. VAN RIJN

(Leiden 1606 – 1669 Amsterdam)
Study sheet with six female heads, 1636.
Etching on laid paper with watermark (not identified).
Etched signature and date at the lower edge: Rembrandt f. 1636.
14.8 x 12.5 cm (the four corners angled). Framed.

Nowell-Usticke 365 II; Hinterding/Rutgers (The New Hollstein) 157 I (of II). - Very excellent and fine impression with rich contrast. At the upper and lower margins probably cut just within the plate mark, the right and left margins probably cut to the plate mark. The four corners angled. With smoothed horizontal and vertical folds, only visible from the verso. Glued around the edges to a mat cutout, whereby the verso remains visible. A few minor areas of rubbing and traces of wear, a tiny hole at the right edge. Overall still in attractive condition.
