ARTHUR ZELLER

(1881 Weissenbach 1931)
"Simmenthaler Alpfleckvieh" (cover title), 1914. Album with 58 original photographs.
Gelatin silver prints fix mounted on cardboard, each with mounted legend. Prints each approx. 16.5 × 22 cm; Album 27 × 35.5 cm. [1] handwritten title page, [29] cardboard mounts. Half leather album of the period with gold-stamped cover title.

Signed on the handwritten title page by the photographer "AR. Zeller. Webach." The photographer came from a family of livestock breeders and was also a breeder and farmer himself. As a self-taught hiking photographer, he documented people, cattle, townscapes and landscapes of the Simmental from 1902 onwards. Zeller is the only photographer of his time specialising in animal husbandry in Switzerland.

The prints slightly toned and faded, lightly spotted in part, occasionally with slight retouching. The mounts slightly curved, somewhat browned, foxed and soiled, the protective sheet partly missing, partly torn and folded. Slightly warped album cover, somewhat rubbed and bumped. However, overall in good condition.
