PAIR OF VERY FINE AND UNUSUAL BRONZE CANDELABRAS WITH RIVER DEITIES,

Meissen, 3rd quarter of the 18th century, the porcelain models by J.J. Kaendler, with gilt and chiseled Parisian Rococo bronze mount.
Gilt bronze, with sparsely colored porcelain figures depicting river deities. Matching pieces.
H 48 cm.


Losses.

Provenance:
- From a Turinese private collection.
- Auction Sotheby’s Zurich, 10 December 1996, Lot No. 351.
- Swiss private collection.

The two Meissen figures of river deities are allegories of Summer and Fall. Kaendler's inspiration for these models came from the Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons in the Rue de Grenelle.
