Japan, 19th c. Height 8.6 cm.
A dancer and a musician in hira- and takamakie and bone inlays on a black lacquer ground with nashiji adorn the two sides. With kagamibuta netsuke of wood and ivory, carved with a portrait of Daruma and a matching lacquered ojime in the shape of Daruma.
