A FOUR-CASE INRO BY THE KOMA KORYU LINEAGE.
Japan, 2nd half 18th/1st half 19th c. Height 6.3 cm.
Ribbed case, on black lacquer ground decorated with a flowering plum tree and birds in gold, silver and red hira- and takamakie, complemented by accents in kirikane and aogai inalys. Signed Koryû saku and kakihan. Bone ojime finely carved with the head of a rakan (arhat).
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, thence by descent.
