AN ECHIZEN-SHIMOSAKA SCHOOL KATANA.

Japan, Shintô period (17th c.), length of blade 62.3 cm.
Shinogizukuri style blade, torii-zori sugata, midare hamon, itame hada. Mumei (unsigned). Shirasaya. Mounting (koshirae) of black saya with different motifs in gold lacquer and tsuba decorated with tendrils in gold, menuki in shape of a dragon.
NBTHK certificate: hozon status (no. 333968, appraised 1994).
