A LARGE BUTSUDAN (BUDDHIST ALTAR) WITH AMIDA NYORAI.

Japan, Meiji period, 74.5 × 62 × 136 cm; height of figure 27 cm, without lotos base.
Ancestral shrine with double hinged doors, red lacquer exterior, manyfold gold lacquer decoration on black at interior. An Amida Buddha figure under a temple canopy is inside, behind lattice doors with gauze lining and above an area of drawers. Traces of usage.

Provenance: Old private collection from Southern Germany.
