TWO LARGE LIFE-LIKE DOLLS (IKININGYO).
Japan, late 19th/early 20th c. Height 72 cm and 53 cm.
Wood, pigmented gofun, textiles and other materials, inset glass eyes. Expressive, lively figures of an attacker with drawn sword wearing a haori with skulls and bones, ready to attack the other figure in a staggering defensive posture. Some traces of age and damages. (2)
