A KAKEMONO IN THE STYLE OF KANO MOTONOBU (1476-1559).

Japan, early Edo period, 94 × 32.5 cm.
Ink on paper. Depicting five scholars excerting the four accomplishments (kinki shoga). Red 'Nobu' pot seal. Brocade mounting. Wood box, inscribed at inside. Signs of age, rod at bottom (jikugi) lost.

Provenance: Old private collection, according to the inheritor purchased in the mid-1950s.
