Samson slays the lion. Circa 1496/97.
Woodcut on laid paper with watermark: three mounts vert with cross and the letters HW (see Meder 148, circa 1577 - 1597).
Monogrammed in the block on the lower margin in the centre: AD
38.4 x 28 cm.

Bartsch 2; Schoch/Mende/Scherbaum 127; Meder 107 f (of g). - A predominantly clear and even impression with a small margin around the border line. Both upper corners and the lower left corner restored. Several restored smaller tears in the margins and within the image.
