LARGE BOULLE CLOCK ON PLINTH
Régence, Paris, ca. 1710. The movement signed J.B. Duchesne à Paris (Jean-Baptiste Duchesne, mentioned 1723 or 1733).
The case with brown underlaid tortoise shell and inlaid with engraved brass in the form of flowers and leaves. Opulent, gilt bronze mounts designed as a mascaron, flowers, leaves and espagnolettes, and an Angel of Victory. Engraved bronze dial with white enamel cartouches. Movement converted to anchor escapement, striking the half-hour.
