ENTHRONED MADONNA WITH THE CHRIST CHILD

Romanesque type, from the Southern Alpine region, probaly ca. 1200/1250.
Carved wood, verso hollowed, and painted. The Mother of God is seated on a simple throne bench, the Christ Child is sitting on her left knee and making a gesture of blessing.
H 75 cm.


Provenance: Private collection, Suisse romande, from the Château de Courtaney à Avry, Fribourg.
