BOULLE PENDULUM CLOCK ON PLINTH

Louis XIV / Régence, Paris, ca. 1700. The work signed 'Panier à Paris' (probably Josué Panier, mentioned in Paris in the early 18th century.).
Wooden case with tortoiseshell with brown underlay, inlaid with engraved brass designed as tendrils. Gilt bronze mounts designed as decorative friezes and mythical animal heads, and leaves. The top decorated with an Angel of Victory (wings missing). Relief-decorated dial with white enamel cartouches. Movement with verge escapement and 1/2-hour strike on bell.
46 × 20 × 126 cm.
