KNIFE WITH ATTACHMENT FIGURE
French, last third of the 16th century.
Carved iron handle, twice retracted, the centerpiece octagonal and covered with mother-of-pearl plates. The handle end in the shape of a capital with a leaf frieze and a standing lion. The blade bolster retracted, the base of the handle with a leaf frieze. Blade with tip on the cutting edge. Smith's mark and notch in the back of the blade, probably originally filled.
