LARGE FOLDING OR TRAVELING TOOL PROBABLY FOR A GARDENER

The indication that this is a gardener's tool is taken from, for example, the Dorotheum auction catalog: Dorotheum auction catalog, Besteck-Sammlung Franz Emmerich Graf Lamberg. Vienna, 1912. p. 12, fig. 125. This multifunctional tool has three identical blades and similar design features on the handle. Another "Couteau de jardinier" (gardener's knife) from the 16th century. is in the Musée de la Renaissance Château d'Ecouen and has similar blade shapes (inv. no. EC99).
