SERVING KNIFE

French, 16th century.
Edged iron handle tapering towards the blade bolster and engraved with flowers and leaf tendrils. Beveled and stepped end with engraved rosette. Edged and grooved handle bolster. Rectangular, broad blade decorated with lions, instruments, a helmet and tendrils. Round opening at the front of the blade.
L 34.7 cm.

Traces of corrosion. Rubbed. Highly worn in some areas.
