The Spanish Forger -
Two ladies and a gentleman playing cards. Illuminated miniature in colour and heightened in gold on vellum in the style of the 15th century. Written on both sides.
Probably France circa 1900. 17 x 13.2 cm. Verso 5 lines of notes and Gothic Textura in brown and red pen. Mounted under passepartout, gold frame, under glass (30.5 × 25 cm; verso label of the frame maker).

Somewhat soiled, the gold heightening with light cracking, slightly wrinkled, tiny tears verso due to ink. Reinforced verso in the margins, light traces of glue from old mount.
