RARE MODEL OF A SACRED BARQUE WITH RAMS HEADS

Etruscan, ca. 600-550 B.C.
Terracotta with red and white engobe. The ends of the ship with ram heads painted in light colors.
L 45 cm.


In two parts, repaired. Retouches and few Losses and chips.

Provenance:
- Summa Galleries Inc, Beverly Hills, probably acquired in the late 1970s.
- Collection W. Rosenbaum, Ascona, late 1970s (together with Galleria Serodine).
- Galleria Serodine, Ascona, before 2016.
- Swiss art trade.

Cf. Robert Hess, Raccolta R.H. from a private antique collection Basel/ Stuttgart, 1963, No. 26. A very similar boat with ram heads is in the J. Paul Getty Museum (inventory No. 80.AE.129).
