A LOT OF 3 WROUGHT IRON AND BRASS CALLIPERS, possibly France or England, circa 1800. Flattened arms with rich etch decoration in the shape of flowers and leaves. Lot consisting of: Callipers with S-shaped arms hinged at their centre with rose decorated joint. Instrument with pincer-shaped arms hinged at the end with rosette joint. the third pair of callipers consists of pincer-shaped arms at one and straight arms at the other side hinged by a brass joint. The opening can be regulated by a crossbar with screw. Provenance: Roussel Collection (see auction at the Hotel Drouot, Paris, March 13-15 1911), Collection Jules Strauss, exhibition "made in iron" in Houston, Texas in 1966 (in which they were catalogued as 17th c. French callipers of the Nicolas Landau Collection).
