IMPORTANT BOULLE VITRINE CABINET
Louis-Philippe style, Paris, ca. 1840/50. Attributed to Alexandre-Louis Bellangé (1797–1861). Some of the bronzes are monogrammed on the back bT.
Ebony and tortoiseshell with red underlay, decorated with engraved brass inlays in the form of geometric fillets, arabesques, birds and flowers. Rectangular body on a cut-out frame, merging directly into stepped feet. Glazed, single-door front between slightly flared pilaster strips. Rich, finely chased and gilt bronze decoration in the form of leaf masks, allegorical trophies, satyr heads, rocailles, leaf and acanthus friezes, rosettes and mesh. Escutcheon with rocaille mask. 1 key. Restoration plaque on the back.

According to Sylvain Cordier, author of the extensive monograph on the cabinetmaker dynasty Bellangé, this vitrine cabinet is characteristic of Alexandre-Louis Bellangé's furniture production of the 1840s and 1850s.
