ENAMEL PLAQUE DEPICTING THE CRUCIFIXION
Limoges, late 16th century.
Polychrome enamel with gold drawing on a rectangular copper plate. Central depiction of the crucifixion of Christ surrounded by a kneeling Mary Magdalene, Mary, the disciple John, another disciple, Judas, and Romans. In a carved wooden frame with remnants of gilding. The back with an old, indistinct label.
16.5 × 12.5 cm, with frame 22.5 × 18.5 cm.
Loss to the lower left corner. Extensive restorations to all corners in places, restoration to the hair of the kneeling Mary Magdalene and to the leg area of the man in the foreground on the right. The back with glue residue. Frame with losses.
