TWO SIMILAR SKYPHOI

Gnathia, Apulia, 4th century BC.
Ceramic, painted black, in part gadrooned and decorated with a white-painted flower and vine frieze and geometric dots. The inside with old collection labels, probably Prof. Angelo Signorelli, no. 291.
H 11 cm, L 14.2 cm and H 11.5, L 14.3 cm.

The larger bowl with a repaired break. Few retouches. Chips to the white decoration.

Provenance:
- Private collection, Prof. Angelo Signorelli, 1951 (according to catalog copy, no. 291)
- Swiss private collection A.C. (1921-2015), acquired from the above (according to oral tradition)
- Through inheritance in the same family estate.
