LATE GOTHIC PAINTED IRON CASKET

Switzerland or southern Germany, ca. 1500.
Iron, painted green, red and golden yellow. Rectangular body with a flat hinged lid. The front corners reinforced with twisted pilasters. With handles on the sides, attached to rosettes. The back and the lid reinforced with three bands, in part decorated with rosettes. The central band on the lid hides the keyhole. Lock with three bolts. 1 key.
22 × 13 × 13 cm.

Losses and minor restorations. Parts of the escutcheon broken off.
