Probably Paris, 2nd half of the 18th century. Indistinct marks.
Oval box with six enameled panels. Matte-finished gold mount, decorated with antique vases and leaves and flowers in translucent red and green enamel. The pictorial fields show various genre scenes after David Teniers the Younger, on the lid a family by an open fire, on the rim a couple at a table, a flute player, a violin player, a couple with a letter at the table. The bottom depicts card players. The miniatures demonstrate an interest in artists such as Teniers, Greuze and Lépice, but cannot be clearly attributed to a specific artist.
