This famous photograph taken by NASA’s first senior photographer Bill Taub on 20 February 1962 shows John Glenn in a full-pressure silver space suit boarding the Friendship 7 capsule at Cape Canaveral’s Launch Complex 14 just prior to becoming the first American in orbit.
