The Patron of Art 2005 is dedicated to Pope Julius II. He is considered one of the most influential patrons of the arts in the Church. He made Rome a cultural center of the Renaissance, supported artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael, commissioned the world-famous frescoes in the Sistine Chapel and ordered the construction of St. Peter's Basilica. Limited to three pieces, the luxurious Artisan fountain pen features a diamond-set lattice design in white gold on a body of guilloché red lacquer. The distinctive cap symbolizes the tiara of the Pontifex Maximus and the gold nib features the seal of Julius II.
