In advanced years, August Rodin became enthusiastic about contemporary dance. At the dance school of Isadora Duncan, he finally had the opportunity to sketch the students during their dance classes. The result was a series of sculptures of different dance positions. The figures were conceived in 1911, but it was not until 1953 that they were cast in bronze. There are 13 examples of the present bronze "Mouvement de danse, étude type F", all cast between 1953 and 1957.
