MADONNA WITH CHILD
Late Gothic, Swabia, ca. 1480.
Carved lime, verso hollowed and painted and parcel-gilt. The Madonna with open hair falling in long waves, stands in contrapposto and carries the seated child in her left hand. Both figures hold an apple in their right hand.
H 94 cm.
Repairs to the base and the to the foot of the child. Gilding and paintwork of the robe in part retouched, incarnate parts in a nice state of preservation. The crown is missing. The left hand has been replaced.
