SAINT ANTHONY
Gothic, Burgundy or Switzerland, beginning of the 16th century.
Limestone carved full round. A figure of Saint Anthony standing on flames, wearing an Antonite habit, and holding an open book in his right hand, and a staff in his left hand. With a tau cross, the symbol of the Order of St. Anthony, on his left shoulder. Finely carved hair and beard, furrowed brow and serious facial expression.
H 55 cm.
Multiple small and somewhat larger chips.
