TEAPOT AND LID WITH AUGSBURG GOLD CHINESE FIGURES
Meissen, ca. 1720. The paintwork ca. 1720-25 in the workshop of Abraham Seuter.
Teapot with a gilt curved spout designed as an eagle's head and a scrolled handle. Painted in etched gold with an enthroned leader receiving a group of his subjects, accompanied by a servant holding aloft a bird in a ring on a pole, with plants and birds and insects on the sides. The back with a group of figures in front of an oven. The domed lid is decorated with birds sitting on branches, and with an Augsburg border pattern.
