George III, London, ca. 1780. The case signed 'J. Ireland Maiden Lane Covt. Garden'.
Wooden case, lacquered black and painted with a gallant scene with people sitting around a table in nature. Decorated with ornamental tiles, flowers and vines. Beige painted wooden dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Brass movement with anchor escapement and long rear pendulum.
56 × 23 × 120 cm.
Scuffed, and with losses to the lacquer. Repairs, bezel has a crack.
