TWELVE SILVER-GILT PLATES

London, 1767/68. Maker's mark Sebastian & James Crespell.
Curved round shape with circumferential profiles and a gadrooned rim. Engraved coat of arms of the von Bernstorff family with the motto: Hier weislich dort glücklich.

The von Bernstorff family originates from the Bernstorf family in Mecklenburg and is a member of the Mecklenburg nobility. The family has brought forth numerous dignitaries, especially politicians and diplomats with connections to England and Denmark.
