MUSIC BOX FEATURING A SONGBIRD
Switzerland or France, second half of the 19th century.
Brass, relief-decorated, engraved and punched, and gilt. Rectangular box, decorated all-around in relief with songbirds in tendrils and scrolls. The lid with an oval reserve, the cover of which can be opened by operating a slider at the front, revealing a small moving and twittering songbird with spectacular plumage . With a small compartment under a hinged cover for the winding key.
10.5 × 7 × 4.5 cm.
Movement functions, but requires revision. Gilding in part rubbed.
