ATTRACTIVE TABLE CLOCK WITH ALARM

Southern Germany or Switzerland, Renaissance ca. 1540–70.
Bronze and copper in relief and etched, and with original fire gilding. The walls of the square case decorated in relief with hunting scenes, probably Emperor Charles V with a group of hunters. Gilt dial, engraved with tendrils, and two chapter rings with Arabic and Roman numerals. Central alarm disc. Iron hands. Compact movement with verge escapement, striking the hour on bell. Alarm mechanism is accommodated in the bell.
12 × 12 × 7 cm.

Hammer spring, repaired. Spring of the striking mechanism, missing. Spring brake, removed. Corner decorations on the dial, missing. Gilding, rubbed.
