HELBARD

Swiss, 1606/1636, Zurich.
Square tip, short square connecting part with mark: Orb with six dots by Balthasar Erhardt. Blade with convex edge, beak-shaped hook. Two langets. Iron, somewhat corroded. Square shaft, probably older restoration.
L 196 cm.

In the period from 1606 to 1636, the armourer, Balthasar Erhardt of Meilen ZH, was the most important supplier of pole weapons to the Zurich Armoury, cf. Meier, Sempacher Halbarten, in: Festschrift Blankwaffen - für Hugo Schneider, 1982, p. 232, Ill. 6.
