PAIR OF IMPORTANT LIDDED TUREENS WITH CASE,

Turin, 2nd half of the 18th century. Maker's mark of Christ giving a blessing, featuring the initials I.P. Inspector: Giovanni Battista Carrone (1753–1778). Francesco Pagliani (1775–1816). Additional Inspector: Bartolomeo Bernardi (1779–1816); Carlo Micha (1759–1787).
Curved, oval shape, on four scrolled feet. Cast handles on both sides. The inserts, likewise in silver. All the individual items bear incised weight indications and numbers.
45 × 28.5 cm. Total weight ca. 11,110 g.

Provenance:
- Samuel Tscharner (1716-1800).
- Collection Friedrich von Tscharner (1868–1952), Berne.
- By succession, Swiss private collection.

The identification of this rare maker's mark has not been possible to date, but a small cutlery set bearing the same maker's mark was recently discovered (cf. Gianfranco Fina, Argentieri piemontesi del Settecento, Milan, 2018, p. 276).
