Louis XVI, from a Parisian master workshop, ca. 1765/70.
Matte and polished gilt bronze.
H 51 cm.

Provenance:
- from a private collection, Suisse romande.

A sconce with identical poppies and bow is depicted in : H. Ottomeyer / P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen - Die Bronzearbeiten des Spätbarock und Klassizismus, Munich 1986; I., p. 231 (Ill. 4.1.14). A further pair of sconces is part of the collections of the Château de Fontainebleau.
