Bronze und "Giallo di Siena"-Marmor. Büste mit fein ausgearbeitetem Bart und Stirnband, auf eingezogenem, profiliertem Rundsockel. Mit Giessermarke FONDERIA SOMMER NAPOLI. H 68 cm.


Provenienz: Schweizer Privatsammlung. C.A.W. Sommer schuf zahlreiche Büsten und Medaillons, aber auch Brunnenfiguren sowie Denk- und Grabmäler. Seine Werke sind u.a. in Coburg, im Wiener Opernhaus, in der National-Galerie in Berlin und in Dresden ausgestellt. Lit.: Thieme/Becker, Leipzig 1999; 31/32, S. 268 (biogr. Angaben).
