TONTAFEL MIT KEILSCHRIFT UND SIEGEL
Emar (heutiges Meskene), 13. Jh. v. Chr.
Gebrannter Ton allseitig mit gekerbter Keilschrift. Eine Schmalseite mit Siegel und figurativen Szenen.
8,5 × 6,6 × 2,5 cm.
Provenienz:
Zürcher Privatbesitz, wohl in den 1970/80er Jahren erworben (Inventar, Nr. 5.21).
Mit einer englischen Übersetzung der Keilschrift (Autor der Übersetzung unbekannt): "Record of the vicissitudes of a sum of 10 shekels of silver and one ox. These had belonged to Adad-malik, who, during his lifetime, gave them to Hinnu-Dagan to keep but eventually to return them to his (Adad-malik’s) wife and Tura-Dagan. This Hinnu-Dagan duly did. But at this point of time further specifications came to light : that Adad-malik had entered the silver and ox in a tablet of debts he owed to Hinnu-Dagan, to whom they should therefore pass on Adad-malik’s death, and that the wife of Adad-malik and Zubala were also part owners of the silver and ox. No solution to the difficulties is given : the facts are stated and witnessed by three persons."
Die Erwähnung von Hinnu-Dagan, Sohn des La'rima, findet sich auch auf einem Keilschrifttablett aus der Jonathan Rosen Collection (Vgl. Gary Beckman: Texts from the Vicintiy of Emar in the Collection of Jonathan Rosen, In: History of the Near East, Monographs, Vol. 2, Padova 1996. Nr. RE 72).
