A LARGE ZUSHI (PORTABLE SHRINE).
Japan, late 17th/early 18th c. Height 61 cm.
Wood, lacquered in black and gold, with metal fittings. The interior houses a standing Kannon figure in front of a nimbus. The eyes are inlaid, the robe is decorated with a gentle floral pattern. Minor signs of usage and age.
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection from Southern Switzerland.
