Collection Henry H. Gibbs, 1884 (verso with label).
Dr. Fred G. Meijer has confirmed the authenticity on the basis of a photograph, for which we would like to thank him. He describes the painting as a very beautiful and characteristic example of the collaboration between the still-life painter Daniel Seghers and Erasmus Quellinus, and, on the basis of stylistic features, dates it around 1645. The painting is signed by Daniel Seghers with the addition "Societatis Jesu", which testifies to the painter's affiliation with the Jesuit order.
