In good restored condition, the bronze mounts have been cleaned. Minimal losses to the inlays.

According to Sylvain Cordier, author of the extensive monograph on the cabinetmaker dynasty Bellangé, the silhouette and shape of the “meuble d'entre deux” on offer is inspired by four half-cabinets that Alexandre-Louis Bellangé made in 1839 for the dining room of Ferdinand-Philippe, Duc d'Orléans (1810-1842) in the Tuileries Palace. Two of them are now in the Mobilier National collection and one is in the Louvre (inv. no. OA 12234).

We are grateful to Mr. Sylvain Cordier for his help in cataloging this piece, which he confirmed as being by the Ebenist on the basis of photographs (Zurich, July 26, 2024).
