A LARGE AMIDA RAIGO TRIAD.
Japan, early Edo period (17th/1st half of 18th c.) Total height 112 cm, central figure 49 cm.
Wood, lacqured in gold, the eyes of all three figures are inlaid with crystal. Amida Nyorai in the center flanked by Kannon and Seishi represents the descent of the Buddha from heaven to take believers to the Western Paradise. Minor restorations.
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection from Southern Switzerland.
