TWO ENGRAVED IVORY PANELS, PROBABLY FRAGMENTS OF A CABINET FITTING
Flemish, 17th century.
Engraved rectangular ivory plaque. Depiction of a Judgement, enthroned regent surrounded by three men, facing them five kneeling and standing petitioners in a palace with a view of the city, in a carved frame. In addition, a further plaque depicting a landscape with two saddled donkeys, two armed men, a kneeling man and a man filling sacks with pillaged goods, in a leather frame. The reverse with an old inventory label 246 and inscribed "Ivoire gravé". The bone panels probably part of caskets inlaid with bone panels.
Without frame 17.4 × 7 cm and 12.5 × 6 cm.
