GEMSTONE AND IVORY FIGURINE, probably India or Thailand, ca. 1900.
Silver gold plated, total weight 1326g.
A magnificently decorated figurine in form of an elephant of ivory with stupa, decorated with head jewellery and dressed in a finely carved, gold plated silver mantle with gemstones and pearls: 2 cushion-shaped sapphires of ca. 8.75 x 8.33 resp. 9.18 x 9.30 mm, 1 purple resp. blue coloured cushion-shaped spinel of ca. 9.80 x 8.55 resp. 9.04 x 8.36 mm, 1 chrysoberyl cat's eye cabochon of ca. 10.75 x 9.25 mm, 1 cushion-shaped amethyst of ca. 13.85 x 11.67 mm, numerous pink and blue sapphires, emeralds, garnets, zircon, citrines, probably rock crystal and natural pearls. Tusks and bell pendant. Ca. 20 x 19 x 9.5 cm.
