We are grateful to Christiaan Lucht, M.A., who has confirmed the authenticity of the painting on the basis of a photograph and assigns the composition to Verwee's late work.
Condition:
Oil on unlined canvas, verso with a small canvas support. Paint surface well-preserved with a fine net of craquelure. Slight colour abrasion and canvas stretcher marks along the edges.
Under UV: few small retouching in the landscape visible. Varnish appears irregular in fluorescent green.
Overall in very good condition.
Dimension with frame: 98 × 121.5 cm.
