KNIFE WITH PARTIALLY ENAMELED AGATE HANDLE
French, 1st half of the 17th century.
Octagonal agate handle with parcel-gilt and enameled flowers and blossoms. Enameled, flower-shaped cap. Gilt and enameled handle collar in the shape of flower petals. Shaped and engraved blade bolster merging into a blade with tip on the non-cutting edge. Engraved decoration at the base of the blade in the form of tendrils and scrolls with remnants of gilding.
L 20 cm.
Blade broken. Requires restoration. Losses to the enamel. Agate handle slightly loose. Blade with traces of oxidation and in part worn.
